Chapter 5 - Real Seeing According to the Truth

“Subhuti, what do you think? Can one see the Tathagata through his physical appearance?”

“No, World-honored One. One cannot see the Tathagata through physical appearance. Why? Because the physical appearance as spoken by the Tathagata is not physical appearance.”

The Buddha told Subhuti, “All appearances are illusory. Only when one perceives all appearances as non-appearances does one see the Tathagata.”

如(rú) 理(lǐ) 實(shí) 見(jiàn) 分(fēn) 第(dì) 五(wǔ)

須(xū) 菩(pú) 提(tí) ， 於(yú) 意(yì) 云(yún) 何(hé) ， 可(kě) 以(yǐ) 身(shēn) 相(xiàng) 見(jiàn) 如(rú) 來(lái) 不(fǒu) 。 不(fǒu) 也(yě) 、 世(shì) 尊(zūn) ， 不(bù) 可(kě) 以(yǐ) 身(shēn) 相(xiàng) 得(dé) 見(jiàn) 如(rú) 來(lái) 。 何(hé) 以(yǐ) 故(gù) 。 如(rú) 來(lái) 所(suǒ) 說(shuō) 身(shēn) 相(xiàng) ， 即(jí) 非(fēi) 身(shēn) 相(xiàng) 。 佛(fó) 告(gào) 須(xū) 菩(pú) 提(tí) ， 凡(fán) 所(suǒ) 有(yǒu) 相(xiàng) ， 皆(jiē) 是(shì) 虛(xū) 妄(wàng) ， 若(ruò) 見(jiàn) 諸(zhū) 相(xiàng) 非(fēi) 相(xiàng) ， 即(jí) 見(jiàn) 如(rú) 來(lái) 。( )
