Chapter 3 - The Right and Ultimate Meaning of the Great Vehicle

The Buddha told Subhuti, “All bodhisattvas should master their minds in the following way:

“All sentient beings—whether they are born from eggs or wombs, through moisture or transformations, whether they have forms or not, are with or without thoughts, or not completely with thoughts nor without thoughts—I will liberate and deliver to the ultimate nirvana. And yet, of the innumerable sentient beings being liberated and delivered, there really are no sentient beings that are liberated or delivered. Why is this, Subhuti?

“Because if a bodhisattva holds a view of self, others, sentient beings, and lifespan, then he is not a bodhisattva.”

佛(fó) 告(gào) 須(xū) 菩(pú) 提(tí) ， 諸(zhū) 菩(pú) 薩(sà) 摩(mó) 訶(hē) 薩(sà) 、 應(yīng) 如(rú) 是(shì) 降(xiáng) 伏(fú) 其(qí) 心(xīn) ， 所(suǒ) 有(yǒu) 一(yí) 切(qiè) 眾(zhòng) 生(shēng) 之(zhī) 類(lèi) ， 若(ruò) 卵(luǎn) 生(shēng) ，(　) 若(ruò) 胎(tāi) 生(shēng) ，(　) 若(ruò) 濕(shī) 生(shēng) ，(　) 若(ruò) 化(huà) 生(shēng) ，(　) 若(ruò) 有(yǒu) 色(sè) ，(　) 若(ruò) 無(wú) 色(sè) ，(　) 若(ruò) 有(yǒu) 想(xiǎng) ，(　) 若(ruò) 無(wú) 想(xiǎng) ，(　) 若(ruò) 非(fēi) 有(yǒu) 想(xiǎng) 、(　) 非(fēi) 無(wú) 想(xiǎng) ，(　) 我(wǒ) 皆(jiē) 令(lìng) 入(rù) 無(wú) 餘(yú) 涅(niè) 槃(pán) 而(ér) 滅(miè) 度(dù) 之(zhī) 。(　) 如(rú) 是(shì) 滅(miè) 度(dù) 無(wú) 量(liàng) 無(wú) 數(shù) 無(wú) 邊(biān) 眾(zhòng) 生(shēng) ，(　) 實(shí) 無(wú) 眾(zhòng) 生(shēng) 得(dé) 滅(miè) 度(dù) 者(zhě) 。(　) 何(hé) 以(yǐ) 故(gù) ，(　) 須(xū) 菩(pú) 提(tí) ，(　) 若(ruò) 菩(pú) 薩(sà) 有(yǒu) 我(wǒ) 相(xiàng) 人(rén) 相(xiàng) 眾(zhòng) 生(shēng) 相(xiàng) 壽(shòu) 者(zhě) 相(xiàng) ，(　) 即(jí) 非(fēi) 菩(pú) 薩(sà) 。(　)
